How to Install TiviMate on Firestick: A Step-by-Step Setup Guide

By the Nviewx team — IPTV operators who set up and test players on Firestick every day.

Short version: you install TiviMate on Firestick by sideloading it. TiviMate is not in the Amazon Appstore, so you first turn on app installs from unknown sources, install the free Downloader app, use it to grab the official TiviMate file, and then add your IPTV playlist. Start to finish it takes about ten minutes, and you only do the fiddly part once.

This guide walks the whole thing on a standard Fire TV Stick, including the two spots where people usually get stuck: the “unknown sources” toggle that hides in a different menu on newer devices, and the playlist screen where you paste your provider details. There is nothing risky here as long as you only load the real TiviMate file and not a random copy from some website.

What you need before you start

Grab these first so you are not hunting mid-setup:

  • A Fire TV Stick or Fire TV device connected to your TV and the internet. Any model from the last few years works; the newer 4K sticks just feel snappier. If you are still shopping, our rundown of the best Fire TV Stick for IPTV covers which one to buy.
  • Your IPTV login details from your provider: either an M3U playlist URL, or an Xtream Codes set (server URL, username, password). Not sure which you have? Our M3U vs Xtream Codes explainer breaks down the difference.
  • A stable Wi-Fi or wired connection. If streams have been stuttering, sort that out first with the best Wi-Fi settings for IPTV before you blame the app.
  • About ten minutes and your Fire TV remote.

The Amazon Fire TV platform runs a version of Android under the hood, which is exactly why an Android app like TiviMate runs on it once it is loaded.

Step 1: Turn on app installs from unknown sources

Sideloading just means installing an app from outside the official store. Fire TV blocks that by default, so you flip one setting to allow it. This is the step that moved around in recent software updates, so follow the menu that matches your device.

From the Fire TV home screen, open Settings (the gear icon), then My Fire TV (older devices call it “Device” or “System”), then Developer options. Inside, look for Apps from Unknown Sources and switch it on. Confirm the warning that pops up.

On newer Fire OS builds, Developer options can be hidden. If you do not see it, go back to My Fire TVAbout, highlight your device name, and click it seven times. You will see a “you are now a developer” message, and Developer options will appear in the previous menu.

Some devices no longer show one global switch. Instead, the permission is granted per app, so you will be asked to allow “Install unknown apps” for the Downloader app specifically the first time it tries to install something. That is normal and safe. Sideloading only becomes a problem when you install files from sources you do not trust.

Step 2: Install the Downloader app

Downloader is a free, official app in the Amazon Appstore. It is a simple browser and file tool that lets you type a web address, pull down the app file, and install it right on the device.

From the home screen, open FindSearch (the magnifying glass), type Downloader, pick it from the results, and select Download or Get. When it finishes, open it once so it is ready. If Downloader asks for permission to access storage or to install apps, allow it.

That is the only app you need to sideload from the store. Everything else loads through it.

Four steps to install TiviMate on Firestick: allow installs, get Downloader, load TiviMate, add your playlist

Step 3: Sideload TiviMate with Downloader

Now you use Downloader to fetch TiviMate itself. Open the Downloader app and make sure you are on the Home tab with the URL box selected.

Type the official TiviMate download address into the URL box and select Go. Downloader also supports short numeric shortcut codes that stand in for a full address, so if you are following a trusted guide you can enter its current TiviMate code instead of the long URL. Codes and links do change over time, so always use the official TiviMate source rather than a mirror or fan site.

Downloader will pull down the TiviMate file (it is around 30 MB, so it is quick). When it finishes, an install screen appears with an Install button in the bottom corner. Select it. After a few seconds you will see “App installed.” Choose Done (not “Open”) so you can clean up first.

Back in Downloader, a prompt asks whether to delete the downloaded file. Select Delete, then confirm. The app is already installed, so removing the leftover file just frees space. TiviMate now sits in your Apps & Channels row on the Fire TV home screen; you can hold the remote’s menu button to move it to the front.

Step 4: Add your playlist to TiviMate

Open TiviMate for the first time and it will ask you to add a playlist. This is where your IPTV subscription actually connects. Pick the option that matches the details your provider gave you.

You were given Choose in TiviMate What to enter
A single long link ending in .m3u or with get.php M3U playlist Paste the full URL exactly, then name the playlist
A server URL plus a username and password Xtream Codes Server address, username, password in the three fields
A portal address and a MAC to register Stalker / portal Portal URL and the MAC shown in TiviMate settings

Type carefully. A single wrong character in the URL or password is the number-one reason a playlist “won’t load.” TiviMate then downloads your channel list and the TV guide, which can take a minute on a big list. Once it is done, you are watching. If you want to compare TiviMate’s interface with the other popular option, see our side-by-side on TiviMate vs IPTV Smarters.

Free vs paid TiviMate: what you actually get

TiviMate is free to install and use for basic live viewing. The one-time Premium upgrade unlocks the extras most people eventually want: multiple playlists, recording and catch-up, a picture-in-picture mini player, custom channel groups, and scheduled reminders. You do not need Premium to test that everything works, so set it up free first, confirm your streams are stable, and only pay for the upgrade once you are happy with the service behind it.

Premium is a purchase for the app. It is completely separate from your IPTV subscription, which you buy from your provider. Paying for one does not cover the other.

Fix common TiviMate install and setup problems

Most setups just work. When they do not, it is almost always one of these, and each has a quick fix.

TiviMate Firestick troubleshooting table: common setup problems with likely cause and quick fix
Problem Likely cause Fix
“App not installed” at the install screen Unknown sources still off, or a half-downloaded file Re-check Step 1, then re-download and install again
Downloader link or code does nothing Outdated address, or JavaScript is off in Downloader Use the current official URL; enable JavaScript in Downloader settings
Playlist won’t load or shows no channels A typo in the URL, wrong login, or an expired plan Re-enter the details slowly; confirm the plan is active with your provider
Channels open but buffer constantly Weak Wi-Fi or a device short on memory Move closer to the router or go wired; restart the stick
TiviMate keeps closing on launch Low storage on an older stick Delete apps you do not use, then reopen TiviMate

If buffering follows you across every app and channel, the problem is the connection, not TiviMate. Some people add a VPN for IPTV to stop provider throttling; whether that helps depends on your setup.

Tips to keep TiviMate running smoothly

A few habits keep the app fast for the long run. Restart the Firestick every week or so — a quick reboot clears memory and fixes most random glitches. Keep TiviMate reasonably up to date, but if a new version misbehaves, you can wait a release before updating; there is no rush when your current version works. Trim your channel list to the groups you actually watch, because a huge list slows the guide and the app. And keep your provider’s renewal date in mind, since an expired plan looks exactly like a “broken app” from TiviMate’s side.

Prefer a different device down the line? TiviMate runs beautifully on dedicated boxes too — see the best IPTV players for Android TV if you move to one.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to install TiviMate on a Firestick?
Yes. Turning on unknown sources only allows installs; it does not weaken the device on its own. The one rule is to load TiviMate from its official source, never a random APK site. Then switch the setting back off if you like.

Why isn’t TiviMate in the Amazon Appstore?
It simply is not published there, so sideloading through Downloader is the normal, expected way to get it. That is why the extra steps exist.

Do I need TiviMate Premium to watch?
No. Live TV works on the free version. Premium adds multiple playlists, recording, catch-up, and picture-in-picture. Set it up free first and upgrade later only if you want those extras.

Does TiviMate include channels or a subscription?
No. TiviMate is just the player. You bring your own IPTV subscription from a provider and connect it with an M3U or Xtream Codes login.

My playlist loaded but nothing plays. What now?
Check the connection first, then confirm the plan is active with your provider. If other apps stream fine but TiviMate does not, re-enter your playlist details — a small typo in the URL or password is the usual culprit.
